1. Sholayar Dam

Located at a distance of 20 km from Valparai, this dam is one of the deepest dams in Asia. Since it is a part of a hydroelectric project, you need to acquire permission to visit the dam. But it is worth a visit, since it is marvellous and has astonishing scenery around it.

2. Nallamudi Poonjolai

This is a brilliant viewpoint, situated at a distance of 15 km from Valparai. It is located at one of the tea estates and provides the best view of Anaimudi Peak, the highest peak of South India. It also has many waterfalls and a 1000 feet deep valley. 08.00 AM to 06.00 PM is the best time to visit.

3. Loam’s Viewpoint

Yet another breathtaking viewpoint situated at an elevation of 780 m above sea level. There are about 40 hairpin bends in the roads that connect this viewpoint and Valparai. One must be very careful as the viewpoint is situated in the 9th hairpin bend towards Valparai from Pollachi. It is named after Mr. Loam, a British General Officer in 1886.

4. Aliyar Dam

Dubbed as the best picnic spot in Valparai, this dam is situated at a distance of 40 km from Valparai and 25 km from Pollachi. This dam houses a park, aquarium, garden, play area and boat house. There is also a forest rest house, if you want to stay overnight. This dam is open from 08.30 AM to 05.30 PM.

5. Balaji Temple

This temple is one of the famous temples in Valparai, situated at a distance of 10 km in a village named Karamalai. It is owned and managed by Karamalai Tea Industries. This temple is the best place to receive spiritual rejuvenation. It also has a beautiful and well-maintained garden inside the temple block.

6. Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary

Anaimalai Tiger Reserve, previously known as Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park, is a protected forest area that houses various kinds of fauna and tribal settlements. The endangered animals found in this reserve are Bengal tiger, Nilgiri Tahr, brown mongoose, sloth bear, sambar deer, etc. Timings are 10.00 AM to 06.00 PM.

7. Grass Hills National Park

This national park is a protected area in Western Ghats and it is a part of the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve. Permission is needed to visit this area. It forms the border with Eravikulam National Park in Kerala.

8. Karamalai Annai Velankanni Church

Situated at a distance of 10 km from Valparai, this church is dedicated to Velankanni Matha. It was constructed in 2003 and has festivals celebrated on the 8th of every September. This is the ideal place for those looking for a peaceful escape.
